Benbecula Distillery incorporates essential aspects of island life and farming, including the revival of ancient distillation techniques. Seaweed is foraged from the island’s shores and is used to enrich the soils on founder Angus MacMillan’s own croft. Here, bere barley is grown, the oldest strain of barley, dating back some 6,000 years. This, allied to the addition of heather within the peat kiln, produces our single malt with gentle smoke, floral notes, and marine character.
The distillation and production of this 2025 release is overseen by iconic Master Distiller Brendan McCarron. Famous for his previous work at Glenmorangie, Oban, Tobermory, Deanston and Bunnahabhain, Brendan is widely recognised as one of the most respected names within the industry.
