Café Supervisor

Role Details  

We are looking for a Café Supervisor to oversee the day-to-day operations of the café at Benbecula Distillery. The role requires a strong background in food service to ensure excellent customer service and high-quality food offerings.  

Responsibilities 

  • Oversee daily café operations, including stock, and customer service
  •  Ensure compliance with food safety regulations and maintain high cleanliness standards
  • Train and supervise café staff 
  • Manage rotas for café staff  

Ideal Qualifications  

  • Previous hospitality experience (café or restaurant preferred)
  • Good knowledge of food safety standards
  • Strong organisational skills and ability to multitask
  • Good communication skills   
  • Barista experience preferred (training can be provided) 
  • Comfortable handling cash and cashing up  

Key Information and Benefits  

Job Type: Full-time, Part-time considered 

£30,100 pro rata based on 35 hours per week

Visitor Centre and Café Assistant

Role Details

You will be responsible for bringing the distillery’s story and craft to life, sharing our whisky journey with visitors from production to tastings. With passion and enthusiasm, you will guide guests throughout their visit, leading tours, helping customers on our shop floor, and supporting in our distillery café.

Responsibilities

Café

  • Preparing, plating up, and serving food in accordance with food hygiene regulations
  • Serving customers, waiting tables, and using the till
  • Clearing tables, cleaning, and pot washing
  • Stock rotation, checking in deliveries
  • Barista (full on job training provided)

Visitor Centre & Tours

  • Greeting visitors and working the shop floor
  • Leading engaging tour and tasting experiences for groups
  • Sharing the story, heritage and production process of Benbecula Distillery
  • Maintaining excellent cleanliness and hygiene standards in the visitor centre
  • Support with seasonal activities and events in the distillery
  • Process retail transactions in the distillery shop, support customers with questions and spirit tastings

Ideal Qualifications

  • Strong verbal communication skills and confidence in public speaking
  • Friendly, enthusiastic and professional demeanour to engage with guests
  • Willingness to learn and develop product knowledge
  • Interest in whisky, distilling, and production
  • Previous experience in hospitality, tourism, or retail (preferred but not
  • essential)
  • Level 2 Food Hygiene certificate (bonus)

  • Shifts: Mon – Fri/Sat between 9am & 4pm (varies during seasonal hours)
