The Machair is a strip of low-lying fertile land that is cultivated and grazed by cattle and sheep belonging to the Hebridean crofter. It’s an entirely unique habitat that clings to our coastline and comes to full bloom in the summer months, turning the machair into a kaleidoscope of beautiful and rare flowers.
We have chosen, and picked with care, the abundant Wild Angelica Root from the machair to accompany island heathers in our first batch of gin.
